Amy Blair who has cherished serving and protecting her community as a member of

the Universal city Police Department, and prior to U.C. was an officer for Kirby P.D. and Comal County, can now use the help of her family, friends, and community in order to survive.

In March of 2009, Amy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) an irreversible disease that destroys the lungs. This disease has taken a happy and vibrant daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend and changed her in to a young lady who is basically bed-ridden and has to rely on oxygen 24 hours a day. IPF has forced Amy to give up her lifelong passion of serving as a police officer and proudly serving and protecting the Metrocom Community.  Through the gift of transplantation she hopes to one day return to doing what she loves most and return to her duties in Law Enforcement.

Amy was hospitalized and placed on life support in late June of 2010, and in dire need of her double lung transplant.  Unfortunately, the situation threatened to remove her from the transplant list.  With only hours left before the next evaluation, which would probably have disqualified her from the list, she received the gift of life through a double lung transplant on July 5, 2010.

Amy is working hard to recover and regain her strength.  It is a long process, but she is determined to return to life as she knew it before IPF.
